Incit Technology and Fujitsu launch SystemWalker in UK

UK Systems Management software specialist, Incit Technology Ltd, in conjunction with Fujitsu Systems Europe, today announced that the Far East’s No 1 systems management suite, SystemWalker, is now available in the UK. Incit Technology will act as a partner to Fujitsu in selling and implementing SystemWalker.

SystemWalker has been developed over past 10 years by Fujitsu, one of the worlds leading IT companies, to address the issues of managing ever more complex, distributed and heterogeneous IT environments. It brings together and enhances the discrete tools used in most IT organisations and provides a framework for centrally managing the entire IT infrastructure and optimising management processes. Such software is increasingly being accepted as being essential, as on-going development of e-business and IT systems in general, is resulting in IT system complexity and service demands outstripping the ability of IT staff to manage them effectively.

A comprehensive suite of solutions covering both lifecycle and service management, SystemWalker is more than just a network monitoring tool. Centric/Mgr, SystemWalker’s Lifecycle management suite, provides a central console, which automatically maintains views of the entire IT network and inventory. Through this software and files can be automatically distributed, events within networks, systems, and applications centrally monitored and performance assessed. Additionally Centric/Mgr provides a wide range of tools for assisting in problem resolution, including remote control, automated recovery processes and an integrated helpdesk and knowledgebase.

Because the software looks at the entire IT infrastructure, it is possible to define the relationship between individual IT elements and a business process model, so that the real impact of problems on the business can be assessed effectively. This, coupled with a policy based approach where policies on performance requirements and actions are defined and distributed across the infrastructure, enables IT departments to move away from simply reactive management to a business aligned, ERP type approach, where IT performance and IT assets are managed based on current and planned business requirements.

Alongside Centric/Mgr, SystemWalker also has a range of discrete ‘service management’ modules covering storage, application, output, job, security, web, performance and asset management all designed to simplify and automate the wide range of management tasks that IT staff undertake currently, in today’s typical multi vendor IT environments, via a range of discrete application/device specific tools. Additionally it’s advanced remote control software, Livehelp, and Desktop/Laptop self diagnosis and automatic repair tool, Self Healing, can be purchased as stand alone modules.

Commenting on SystemWalker Steve Massie Operations and Marketing director of Incit Technology says, "We have a number of years experience supplying and implementing systems management solutions. However these have traditionally been costly and involve lengthy implementation projects, which has been a significant hurdle for many organisations. With SystemWalker not only are the solutions packaged and priced to be affordable by all, but the software is easy to implement. We believe this will make SystemWalker highly attractive to many organisations who have hitherto held back from applying this type of technology”.

For example SystemWalker/CentricMGR, starts at around £5000 for a 50 user environment, and is fully scaleable, at £50 to £100 per end node, to estates comprising tens of thousands of systems. This represents exceptional value for money as for this Centric/Mgr provides automatic software distribution, inventory management, monitoring of network, systems and applications, remote control, helpdesk, automated repair and reporting/analysis tools. Such software has been shown to provide savings of 22% in total cost of ownership – equivalent to thousands of pounds per end user – whilst greatly reducing the pressure on IT staff and minimising system outages.

SystemWalker is already well proven and is used by over 10,000 companies worldwide including leading global companies such as Toyota, Honda, Panasonic, who use it to manage over 1.5 million systems. It supports systems based on Windows, Unix, and other operating systems.
